Ask the Wizard Questions

XMOSAIC crash

The Question is:

I installed Mosaic (MOSAIC-24A-VAX.EXE) on my VAXstation
3100.It works fine, but Mosaic crashes (without any message),
when I try to load html pages.
Symbols defined are:
$ GHOSTVIEW     :== view/format=ps/interface=decwindows
$ XV            :== $decw$examples:pict.exe

Do I have to install another viewer for html pages?
Where do I get it from?

Thanks for your help

The Answer is:

   Mosaic V2.4 ships with recent versions (V1.2-3 and later) of the
   DECwindows Motif package. Both the image and the setup are located
   in DECW$UTILS:. Try using this version.

   "It works fine, but Mosaic crashes" covers a large range of
   possibilities. The OpenVMS and DECwindows versions would be
   helpful, as would the sequence leading up to the crash, as would
   the local network configuration, as would the contents of the html
   page(s) that cause the crash.

   Is there a stackdump? If there are no messages, try loading some
   local pages first, and see how far you can get. Find out what (on
   the html pages in question) is causing the failure...

    For some of the more recent kits, look on the Freeware V2 CD-ROM.

    Pointers to copies of the the Freeware CD-ROM are located in the
