Ask the Wizard Questions

Login: ALF and LAT ports

The Question is:

Why can't the ALF (autologin facility) in SYSMAN use
a LAT terminal as an autologin terminal? e.g. A fixed
lat terminal defined as a service.

The Answer is:

-< Use SERVER/PORT syntax instead of terminal name >-

COMPONENT: Auto Login Facility

QUESTION:

How can I set up a LAT port for use with the Auto Login Facility
(ALF)?

ANSWER:

ALF maintenance is performed using the SYSMAN Utility. A command
similar to the following can be used to add a port to the ALF file:

     SYSMAN> ALF ADD /PORT "MN34C3/LC-1-2" username
                                ^ ^
                                | |
                              server port
                              name name

IMPORTANT: The port specification must be in uppercase letters since
the Auto Login Facility is case sensitive.

NOTE: This also works for DECnet SET HOST by using a command similar
       to the following:

       SYSMAN> ALF ADD "::"/PORT
