Ask the Wizard Questions

PATHWORKS wish list

The Question is:

Will we have to wait for Pathworks for VMS version 6.0 to
have both share-oriented and file-owner file security on
the same server? It is important that we be able to
address files through read-only shares and to also
address the same files using another drive letter that
supports the RWED nature of the file based on file
ownership, etc. I wasn't sure if this might come out in
a minor release. Also, why does it take so long for an
up-to-date pathworks, especially if it a port of "pure"
Microsoft LAN Manager?

The Answer is:

PATHWORKS is not a port of Microsoft LanManager. It is the Microsoft
code, sent to another vendor that adds Unix stuff, and then sent to us.
We cannot discuss furture features of a product, you need to contact
