Ask the Wizard Questions

Update: PROXY Server

The Question is:

Ugrading a VMS 5.5-2 cluster to v6.2

What is the new "proxy servers" role in 6.2?

In a cluster upgrade will the upgrade procedure
convert my exisitng proxy database or is this a
manual "after upgrade" procedure?

What new logicals must I define to make sure that
my proxy database is taken care of during the upgrade?

What other tips do you have for upgrading VMS
clusters to 6.2? I've only upgraded standalone
systems so far.

The Answer is:

:What is the new "proxy servers" role in 6.2?

I assume you are refering to the proxy system services.

:In a cluster upgrade will the upgrade procedure
:convert my exisitng proxy database or is this a
:manual "after upgrade" procedure?

I strongly suggest reading the upgrade and installation manuals.

:What new logicals must I define to make sure that
:my proxy database is taken care of during the upgrade?

Do not delete nor modify the old database, rather, use both
  databases in parallel.

net$proxy is the new logical name.

:What other tips do you have for upgrading VMS
:clusters to 6.2? I've only upgraded standalone
:systems so far.

Please read the installation and upgrade manuals for any releases
you are upgrading to or through, and please the new features manuals
and release notes associated with each of the intermediate releases,
   and with the target release.
