Ask the Wizard Questions

my exe file wont accept parameters

The Question is:

I have an EXE file, to whit, SZ.EXE (a z-modem send
program), and I can't get it to accept parameters. When
I use the foreign command, in the form

sz :== $1$dia2:[pcsa.students.1996.rnarayan]sz.exe

and then try to execute it with a filename, like

$ sz stuff.txt

I get an error message that says
%DCL-W-ACTIMAGE, error activating image $1$dia2:
  [PCSA.STUDENTS.1996.RNARAYAN]SZ.EXE
-CLI-E-IMGNAME, image file 1$DIA2:[PCSA.STUDENTS.1996.
   RNARAYAN]SZ.EXE;
-RMS-F-DEV, error in device name or inappropriate device type or file

The Answer is:

You need an extra $ in there - the first $ is part of the device name. Use:

sz :== $$1$dia2:[pcsa.students.1996.rnarayan]sz.exe
